Taudaha, situated just 4-5 kms from Kathmandu, is a beautiful place to visit (even if you have few hours spare).
Its a naturally preserved lake, clean and peaceful.
Taudaha is composed of two Newari words Ta (means Serpents) and Daha (means Lake).
It is believed that the lake was preserved to save and retain the serpent's king Karkotak and his wife while Manjushree was draining out the water of Kathmandu valley.
Butter lamps are offered by devotees to accumulate merit in order to create positive short - term circumstances such as health, wealth, longevity and more deeply, to reveal one's wisdom to nature.
